NGV – ‘The Horse’

NGV Pic

The National Gallery of Victoria recently held an exhibition dedicated to the ‘Horse’ on Sat 15th August.  We were pleased to meet the two curators Dr Ted Gott and Laurie Benson who tirelessly worked through thousands of pieces of artwork and sculptures to provide a fabulous ode to the horse.  The works captured the old and the new from a     c. 1000BC miniature bronze horse from Iran to the contemporary paintings of events such as the Melbourne Cup.

The overarching thematics of the exhibition was to show how the horse has endured over time particularly during wars, labour and racing. All these things took a toll on the welfare of the horse and in current times it is paramount that we recognise these efforts and provide them with the utmost in adequate access to healthcare that allows these majestic creatures to perform, recover and live well.

Our salt rooms are now helping a lot of horses to function to the best of their ability by resolving respiratory and skin issues that are common occurrences in the day to day training and performance of the horse.  We are resolute in our mission to broaden this reach to all racehorses Australia wide.  If only we opened our doors 1000 years ago!

Please click on the link below and enjoy some of the wonderful pieces that were displayed.

A big thanks to the marketing department at NGV for allowing us to post this link for all to share.
